The North Quarter District….In the Making

Hi North Quarter Stakeholders!

Most of you may be wondering what the North Quarter is and how it pertains to you.  The North Quarter district is an area of business districts that’s mission is to create and sustain a vibrant culture of activity and investment in the Cheshire, Creston and North Monroe neighborhoods.  The North Quarter team, comprised of area business representatives and in collaboration with Neighborhood Ventures, aim to continue the mission of the Creston Corridor Initiative.  To date, we have secured a $10,000 grant from the Grand Rapids Community Foundation, in addition to completing public art projects and facade improvements.

At present, we are in the beginning stages of creating a proposal to the City of Grand Rapids to disignate a Corridor Improvement District (CID) and Business Improvement District (BID) within the North Quarter area.  This will supply us with capital from Tax Increment Financing (TIF) to leverage funding for capital improvement projects to bolster streetscapes, infrastructure, green space, maintenance, and the list goes on.

We are working on our NQ website and will notify you when it is up and running!  In the meantime, please check us out on facebook at  http://www.facebook.com/northquarter?sk=info#!/northquarter.

Thank you and we looking forward to seeing you in the North Quarter soon!

Please contact Deborah Eid at 454.7900 with any questions or inforamtion on how to get involved.
